This recipe was inspired by the classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter—two flavours that complement each other perfectly. I am always on the lookout for healthier, filling snacks to keep me energised throughout the day, which is why I put this recipe together.
The oats in this recipe not only provide a good source of carbohydrates but also contribute a significant amount of protein. This protein pairs well with the protein found in peanut butter, making these bars a nutritious option.
It is worth noting that protein is essential for our bodies. It supports tissue building, muscle and cell growth, maintenance, and hormone regulation. In addition to protein, peanut butter offers other nutritional benefits, including healthy fats and fibre. These healthy fats are a great source of energy and can help reduce inflammation in the body.
You can also customise this recipe by adding ingredients like protein powder, which blends easily into the mixture and boosts the protein content. Plus, since this is a no-bake recipe, much of the nutritional value is preserved.
These no-bake oat bars are not only nutritious but also convenient and versatile. If you have a busy lifestyle, they are perfect because they require minimal time in the kitchen. Once made, they can be stored in the fridge for the week and enjoyed as a quick breakfast, an on-the-go snack, or even as a dessert.
To elevate the experience, try pairing these bars with a hot drink like tea or coffee, or crumble them over Greek yogurt for a tasty variation.
Feel free to make this recipe your own—what are some of your favourite ingredients, and how would you incorporate them into your protein bars?

No Bake Chocolate and Peanut Butter Protein Bars
Ingredients
Base
- 100 g peanut butter smooth
- 80 g honey
- 200 g rolled oats
- 30 g chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Topping
- 70 g melted milk chocolate
- 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp peanut butter smooth
Instructions
- Start by adding the peanut butter, honey and extract in a bowl and mix together and then mix in the oats and fold in the chocolate chips
- Add the mixture to a lined baking tray and press down until all at one level
- For the toppings, in a heat safe bowl, heat the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave in 15-30 seconds intervals and once done, properly mix the 2 ingredients together until fully melted
- Once toppings are ready, pour the chocolate over the oatmeal base and spread evenly. Then add the peanut butter over the chocolate layer and make swirls using a butter knife
- Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours or until the toppings are completely solid
- Once ready, cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
- Keep these in the fridge to avoid topping from melting.
